| CUNY/IVE Social Entrepreneurship Program -Fostering Student Leadership, Engagement and Success
Since its inception, the Institute for Virtual Enterprise (IVE) has been fostering student engagement in social entrepreneurship and community related projects through its annual CUNY/IVE
Social Entrepreneurship Program. The program teaches students how to run, manage, and measure the performance of a real company and go through the process of identification of an entrepreneurial
idea to actual implementation of their venture. Through the IVE Summer Incubator Program students get access to the resources and funds needed to start their own companies.

The CUNY/IVE Social Entrepreneurship Program meets an important need by recognizing that the acquisition of knowledge is insufficient in today's competitive economy.
To succeed, you must be able to identify problems, ask pertinent questions, develop feasible answers, and make those answers actionable. Over the past seven years,
the CUNY/IVE Social Entrepreneurship Program has offered more than 500 CUNY students an invaluable opportunity to develop their potential as future leaders and social entrepreneurs.
The program brings together student leaders and helps them to articulate their passions and interests into dynamic, applied solutions to real world problems. What a great way to bridging
the gap between college and career!
Student Leaders from all over CUNY have been supported and mentored through the CUNY/IVE Social Entrepreneurship Program and worked on a vast range of project ideas, proposals and implementations. Over the past seven years our students have particularly engaged in the following areas:
* Student Leadership,
* Health and Urban Environmentalism, and
* IT Solutions.
We all know that CUNY students have to balance a lot of responsibilities in their daily lives. Sometimes it is difficult to concentrate on an intrinsic idea, while worrying about classes, work, and your private life. Hence, it is our foremost goal to provide a learning environment that allows all participating students to identify and develop an idea or problem and bring it to life.
Program Mission/Design
The Social Entrepreneurship Program is designed to provide an environment for developing entrepreneurship and leadership skills for emerging student leaders within CUNY.
Our mission is to identify and recruit high-potential CUNY students and to enable them to develop their entrepreneurship and leadership skills in a multi-disciplinary, applied learning environment.
The 8th Annual CUNY/IVE Social Entrepreneurship Program starts with a Kick-Off Event and culminates with a competitive event in early June. Students will receive awards, prizes, certificates, and will be offered to continue their work as part of a stipended Summer Internship/Incubator.
We try to be as flexible as possible and also offer additional training and mentorship opportunities. We want to bring together students, faculty, and private sector people to share their mutual interests and create synergies that will benefit you beyond your participation in the program.
Students can take the CUNY/IVE Social Entrepreneurship Program for certificate or for credit. The credit-bearing course is housed at the honors Business and Liberal Arts (BALA) Program at Queens College. Every CUNY student can register through e-permit for these courses (see detailed instructions below).
I would be happy to see you as part of our Social Entrepreneurship Program and would like to invite you to participate in our various activities and initiatives. For further information, please review the detailed course description, or contact me at cwinkler@kbcc.cuny.edu.
Warmest Regards,
Christoph Winkler,
