CUNY IVE & IBM Present- Final Competitive Event

After months of preparation, the students who participated in this semester's 9th Cycle of the Leadership Program will present their projects to a panel of judges for prizes, awards, and stipends. This semester's students worked alone or in groups to create socially conscious projects. Running the gamut from education to environmental awareness, the projects are an example of how CUNY students strive relentlessly to create a better society.

Information Workshop for Final Presentation

For those who are struggling with completing Milestone 3 and would like to qualify for the Final Competitive Event, this workshop will provide guidance in helping you polish, update and refine your business concept so that you are prepared for presenting on June1st, 2011.

We are encouraging all groups to have at least one group member from each active group participate in this workshop on Tuesday evening. In attending this event we will provide you with hands on assistance as well as providing an information session regarding the Final Competitive event including the 5 slides requirements, attire, presentation styles, etc.

We can meet in groups and assist all of those in need of help, guidance, clarity and overall completion of their group ideas.

CUNY IVE and IBM present Turning an Idea into a Business

Henning Seip, founder and owner of SkillPROOF Inc., will share with the roundtable participants how he identified a problem and developed a successful business to solve that problem. At the core of his talk will be an overview about his KRAZOOM job search system, which conducts analyses of online job postings to understand their content in order to support education decisions of students (high school and college) and improve job search and matching of job seekers to job openings (quality of match, reduce time for job seekers and employers). The presentation will be followed by a discussion about Henning’s lessons learned, entrepreneurship and recommendations about how to turn an idea into a business.

CUNY IVE and IBM present Smart Information Management

Knowledge is Power, if you can acquire it! In today's data-centric world, every business/organization/individual seems to be drowning in an ocean of data. The question that is one everyone's mind is, "How do I manage all this information in a smart way and find the most valuable information that will benefit me?". IBM helps its clients answer this question with its portfolio of solutions for data management, data monitoring, and data mining. Dr. Pradeep Natarajan of the IBM Informix R&D | SQL Team, will share with the audience some of the specific Information Management challenges that IBM has solved for its clients.
