As the Leadership Program verges on the start of its 6th cycle, it continues to find innovative ways of using technology to reach out to student leaders. Beginning in the Fall of 2007, the IVE Leadership Program launched an open Facebook group for alumni to network and interact with students considering the program.
The Facebook group allows the IVE alum to continue those close relationships they developed with their mentors and fellow students while building on the concept of using virtual mediums for business and career-related networking. Social networking sites have recently been encouraged and recognized by educators as a tool for managing and maintaining relationships that extend beyond college and IVE has recognized that students need to fully utilize the benefits of this tool. The group incorporates a discussion board, photo gallery, and a wall where students can post questions, upcoming events and personal updates.
