IVE Kicks Off 6th Annual Leadership Program

On Friday February 1 st , IVE kicked off its 6th Annual Leadership Program at Baruch College 's Lawrence N. Field Center for Entrepreneurship.

Dr. Christopher Rosa, University Director of Student Affairs, extended greetings on CUNY's behalf. He was followed by Christoph Winkler, IVE's Associate Director, who welcomed representatives of the CUNY Coalition of Students with Disabilities and the CUNY Inclusion Program. Over 50 students from multiple campuses attended the kick-off, where they were given an overview of the principles of project management and social entrepreneurship. Attendees were also encouraged to break into groups and network with student leaders.

Student leaders Amalia Torrentes and Joshua Perea, themselves IVE alumni, participated in the kick-off. Perea spoke about his personal IVE experience and Torrentes assisted in producing and videotaping the event. The proceedings may be viewed at http://cunyive.ning.com .

The Leadership Program offers training and mentorship, linking students and faculty with the private sector. The collaborative process allows students from across the University to work together in a unique social networking environment. The Program culminates with a competitive event in early June. Participants receive awards, prizes and certificates and are offered opportunities to continue projects through stipended Summer Internships/Incubators .
