Kevin Wright, of the California VE Network, has been named winner of CUNY IVE's Third Annual Stock Market
Competition. Nearly 400 students, representing New York, California, Denmark and Austria, participated in the two month-long
contest. Each student began with a trading budget of $10,000 to invest in the virtual and real stock market using the IVE
Market Maker. The recent turbulence on Wall Street made 2008 a particularly volatile year, but the students welcomed the
challenge, carefully plotting moves and decisions, which are today reflected in the competition's success.
Over five million dollars in equity were traded- with about three million dollars bought and nearly 2 million dollars sold.
Kevin Wright grew the value of his portfolio by more than 70 percent. During the online award ceremony on April 9, 2008, Wright shared his trading secrets, highlighting the importance of keeping on top of the news. Wright said he began by investing in commodities, to establish a secure base for further trading and proceeded cautiously, taking more risks towards the end of the competition.
IVE Director, Dr. Stuart Schulman, congratulates all students on their accomplishments and is already looking forward to next year's competition.
Congratulations to the three winners of the 2008 IVE Stock Market Competition:
