Students run virtual businesses in a Global Virtual Economy.   The Leadership Program bridges the gap between academic education and real-world implementation.   The Nature of New York is often overlooked; at IVE, it is the focus of courses and events.

Bridging the Gap Between College and Career

On Tuesday September 16, the CUNY/IVE Leadership Program held its first Leadership Roundtable of the fall 2008 semester. Over 40 Kingsborough students attended the event. The topic of the Roundtable was "Bridging the Gap". Mr. Edgar Troudt, IVE Technology Director and Kingsborough Instructor discussed the definition of a leader and the importance of leadership in obtaining a career. Students identified what it meant to be a proper leader. Mr. Troudt encouraged students to explore the various leadership projects they could create which address issues that interest them and were of positive consequence. Lesley Vincent, an International Student at Kingsborough College and second place winner of the Leadership Competition spoke about his leadership project "Nixy Flixy". This technological idea is said to revolutionize the way students and faculty communicate and be further engaged in college activities.

The next Leadership Roundtables will be held on Wednesday October 15, 2008 and November 12, 2008 from 6-8 PM.

October 15, 2008: Participants of the CUNY/IVE Leadership Program Summer Incubator will present their projects and share their experiences.

November 12, 2008: Guest speakers will discuss the paths they have taken to achieve their successful careers, and what it takes to explore and pursue one's interests.
