On Friday, January 30th, 2009, CUNY Institute for Virtual Enterprise kicked-off its 7th Annual Leadership Program at Baruch College's
Lawrence N. Field Center for Entrepreneurship. Dr. Stuart Schulman, CUNY IVE's Executive Director, welcomed over 50 students and faculty,
representing 21 of CUNY's 23 campuses, to this year's program. During the course of the event, students were given an overview about the program
and how IVE will help them to find their own leadership style by working on a project of their choice. In order to get started, the participants were
introduced to the principles of networking and project management and how these principles will help them to bring their ideas to life. Students started
their leadership journey right away by breaking into groups to share their ideas and network with one another.
Student leaders and IVE alumni Devika Nandlall (Brooklyn College), Lesley Vincent (Kingsborough Community College),
Walei Sabry (Baruch College) and Catherine & Grace Zinnel (Hunter College) shared their
leadership experiences and how their work has not only improved their leadership skills but has also made a major impact in other people's lives.
The CUNY/IVE Leadership Program offers internships, training and mentorship programslinking students and faculty with the private sector.
The collaborative process allows students throughout CUNY to work together in a unique social networking environment.
The Program culminates with a competitive event in early June. Participants receive awards, prizes and certificates
and are offered stipends to continue projects through Summer Internships/Incubators.
New at this year's kick-off was an introduction to a series of internship opportunities with The Food Bank for New York City,
Ecovention and Envirolutions.
IVE would like to thank Dr. Edward Rogoff and the entire staff of Baruch College's Lawrence N. Field Center for Entrepreneurship
,as well as the CUNY Office of Student Affairs under the leadership of Assistant University Dean Dr. Christopher Rosa for their ongoing help and support of the program.
