Online Trading Day Connects Students from 3 Continents

The Institute for Virtual Enterprise (IVE) and Kingsborough Community College (KCC) hosted their semi-annual Online Trading Day on April 29, 2009. The event gave student firms the opportunity to showcase their virtual companies (VEs), products and services via distance using the Gotomeeting web conferencing tool. The presentations, which spanned over three one-hour sessions, connected students of 26 VEs, spanning 9 time zones and 3 continents. After the presentations students logged on to the IVE MarketMaker (http://www.ivefinancial.com) and started using their virtual credit cards to purchase goods and services from each other. Students were also able to track their sales by accessing a GIS tracking feature that is part of their corporate MarketMaker accounts.

The detailed agenda, including VE names, college/high school affiliation, and links to their online stores can be accessed at: http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=dgrhcfkf_46dbcpdghp

IVE congratulates all students on their entrepreneurial spirit and professionalism and is already looking forward to next semesters fall Online Trading Day.

For more information about upcoming events or to schedule a tour of the IVE MarketMaker, contact Christoph Winkler, Associate Director of IVE, at cwinkler@ive.cuny.edu
