On March 30, 2011 the CUNY Institute for Virtual Enterprise held their 3rd event of the 9th annual
Leadership and Social Entrepreneurship Program.
The event, which took place at Baruch College’s Field Center for Entrepreneurship , was CUNY IVE’s second hybrid roundtable, giving students an opportunity to experience the presentation both on-site and via the web using IBM’s Lotus Sametime Unyte meeting software. Our featured speaker and discussion leader Paul Newton, (Technical Enablement Specialist at IBM) teleconferenced from Dallas, Texas.
Mr. Newton shared with the students his extensive knowledge of information technology and how the internet and technology has created the global 24-hour workday. Starting from how a business and technology evolution occurred between 1960 and 1980, to how computers and networks became smaller, faster, cheaper and more flexible between 2000 and 2010. The limitless potential of Information Technology has placed us at the dawn of the Smarter Planet. IVE would like to thank our featured speaker for his insightful presentation and ongoing support of our students. The rise of IT in business has brought great advancements in speed scope of global marketplace.
