  CUNY Course - Nature of New York

The City University of New York has identified the need to enhance environmental awareness among its students and faculty and provide a place-based source of ecological literacy to the greater public of New York.

Consequently, a course about the Nature of New York: Its Natural History and Environment has been developed in conjunction with NNYN, Inc. Spearheaded by the School of Professional Studies, the course will commence in fall 2005 and is open to CUNY students and the general public. Additionally, a web page about Exploring the Nature of New York... seeks to provide a new vision of the City of New York, that of a modern day city where people and the natural world continue to interact and relate – often unknowingly- as one, within the contexts of a greater ecological community. Exploring the Nature of New York is the first website to explore New York's unique natural heritage in relation to its cultural and socio-economic realities.
