On April 13th, 14th and 15th, the CUNY Institute for Virtual Enterprise at Baruch College hosted its Spring 2015 Online Trading Day. The event, which spanned over four different sessions, gave virtual student firms the opportunity to pitch their concepts to a global audience as a way of validating their business ideas and getting feedback from the MarketMaker community. Students used the GotoMeeting, an online meeting technology.
Each session was filled to capacity with a total of 45 presentations that featured virtual student businesses from New York, Austria, Ohio, South Carolina and Arizona. The event agenda and online stores can be viewed below.
Following the presentations, all participating VE students were encouraged to use their virtual credit cards (with a credit limit of $10,000) and purchase from the respective stores on IVE's virtual economy at www.ivefinancial.com. Students received a thank you gift: an Entrepreneurship T-shirt (designed by our Lawrence N. Field Center for Entrepreneurship graphics designer, Jarlyne Batista) and a retractable stylus tip pen for each team member.
Online Trading Day's Week Long Transactions:
Number of VE's participated: 30
Total Transactions: 207
Total Transaction Amount: $96,296.07
By taking this opportunity to market and sale their products and services, students brought their virtual business to life. Great effort everyone! Here are the top three teams with the highest number of products sold.
